This year as part of Food Allergy and Food Intolerance Week, Allergy UK aims to help and inform everyone affected by a food allergy. While some can be more easily managed and usually result in more minor symptoms, others can be fatal.

Allergy is widespread and affects approximately one in four of the population in the UK at some time in their lives

Symptoms of severe food allergic reaction:

Tingling of the lips
Swelling of the lips/tongue/throat
Projectile vomiting
Difficulty in breathing
Faintness and collapse

It is estimated that up to 45% of the UK population has a Food Intolerance

Food Intolerance/Sensitivity is a collective name for a group of symptoms and illnesses which are connected to food.

Typical symptoms of food intolerance are:

Urgent need to go to the loo
Bloating
Nausea
Migraine/Headaches
Skin rashes
Joint pain
Runny nose
IBS
