What's it all about?
Our
campaign has been developed from the People & Planet (P&P) Going Greener Campaign inspired by the Transitions Town
movement. The P&P campaign is currently creating a network of universities working to become resilient, low-carbon
and more community-led in addressing their environmental and social impacts.
Why not a network of universities
and colleges? We're tired of reading about campaigns and initiatives which target universities
so we've decided to take matters into our own hands!
Our campaign will bring together staff and students to
develop localised, practical projects designed to reduce energy-usage and climate impact.

Building a Community - join ASSET
ASSET is the name for our campaign steering group and stands for Adam Smith Sustainability and Environmental
Team. The group is open to students and staff. Click here for more information.
Raising Awareness
We are currently putting together information (see menu at top of the page) to highlight some of the
issues we can address as a community here at the College. Some of these pages are still under construction, but
as each one is completed it will be published, so please bear with us. They will be divided into four key areas -
food, travel, enery and waste. These form the basis of our four Transition Projects. As Going Greener
develops and ASSET grows in numbers we hope to be able to roll out a programme of activities linked to each
Transition Project.
Transition Vision
Understanding the challenges and solutions to climate
change is not enough. We need to start building our collective vision Transition Vision. What could our College
be like in 2020?
During Go Green Week we'll be inviting you to come along and share your vision
of a low-carbon, lower-energy and future-proof college. We want to hear your ideas so we can build our campaign
and create our Transition Vision Document.
Go Green Week
Supported
by the Principal's Group, this event took place Monday 7th - Friday 11th February 2011 and launched Going
Greener and the four Transition Projects. The week involved several of the Teaching Departments as well as organisatons
such as the Energy Saving Trust and Greener Kirkcaldy raising awareness and providing information about sustainable living
and lifestyle changes to assist students and staff in reducing their impact on the climate. It is hoped Go
Green Week will become an annual event.
Carbon Crash Plan
After Go Green Week and collecting your visions, we'll produce our Carbon Crash Plan which will
show how all our Going Greener projects will achieve our Transition Vision. The college already has a Carbon Management
Plan (CMP) that sets out how it will reduce CO2 by 25% by 2014. We need to make sure it
reflects the student and staff voice and incorporates our community’s Transition Vision.
