Class Rep Training Team

The Students' Association is changing the format of its class rep training for 2010/11 and we require a team of student trainers to help deliver training in November 2010.

It would be advantageous if you have previous experience of being a class rep or depute class rep with a good understanding of the learner engagement mechanisms in place at the College.  If you are interested or would like further information
email Jo.
Student Volunteers

The Students' Association requires student volunteers for a variety of events and activities throughout 2010/2011.  If you would like to get more actively involved with us but have not got the time to commit to being a Student Officer, why not volunteer to help us with one of our events?

Freshers' Fair - 15th September
Stress Awareness Day - 3rd November
World AIDS Day - 1st December
Go Green Week - 7th - 11th February

If you are interested or would like further information
email Jo.

Student Officers

Remember, except for the President's position, all other student officers are voluntary positions.  Check out the Executive Committee page to see if there are still positions requiring to be filled.

Greener Kirkcaldy

Student Volunteers & Student Placements

Greener Kirkcaldy

Greener Kirkcaldy is a community group (and registered charity) that aims to promote environmental sustainability through practical local action.  Their information centre in Kirkcaldy High Street helps local people reduce their carbon footprints and fuel bills, giving one-to-one advice on energy efficiency, greener transport options, waste reducation and local food.  They also work with community groups, giving talks and running workshops, and have a varied programme of events, from wild food walks to bike maintenance classes.

They are looking for students of communication, marketing or business, to help out with marketing and publicity for the centre.  This could take the form of a work placement, an internship or be a casual arrangement.  For more information, please get in touch with our volunteer coordinator, Susan Horseman ( susan@greenerkirkcaldy.org.uk ) or call 015921 858458.

They are also looking for volunteers to help out in the centre and at events - for more details click here.

Motorsport Marshals Required
No experience necessary!

Motorsport Marshals

Motorcycle racing in Scotland cannot run without the help of volunteer Marshals to wave flags, pick up bikes, control pit lane etc.

The season starts on 4th April and the organising clubs are actively recruiting for new blood.

Scottish meetings at Knockhill and East Fortune cover all classes from 125’s to Superbikes, Classics and Sidecars. There is something for everyone interested in Bikes or motorsport in general.

Marshals are not paid, but they get a bacon roll on arrival, a two course lunch in the Knockhill restaurant, a goody bag for the afternoon but most important, they get to spend the day trackside as part of the action.

Training and overalls are provided and new marshals are put out with experienced Teams so no one is thrown in at the deep end.  It’s a great way to get involved with motorsport!

Mentoring

Have you considered being a mentor?

Mentoring is not about having a special talent, it's about being someone who is patient, a good role model, a good listener and more importantly, it's about being you.

You don't need any qualifications but you must be a returning student who has already experienced college life.  For more information check out the
mentoring website.
